ABOUT OLIVA
Melanio Oliva planted the seeds and cultivated his first tobacco crop in Pinar del Rio, Cuba in 1886. In the 1960’s, as Castro took power, Gilbert and the family left Cuba. After traveling extensively in search of conditions to recreate the Cuban taste that be beloved, he found the ideal conditions in Nicaragua. Oliva Cigars flourished in Nicaragua, and is still located there today, where they operate one of the largest factories in the industry.
